Noah Gosdell plays StrawBrain – a lonely scarecrow who must find the meaning of life after losing his ability to scare away birds. It’s a fun new musical playing at After Dark for FRINGEWORLD 2022. We caught up with Noah ahead of the show to find out what we’re in for.
What is your show about?
This show is about a scarecrow who begrudgingly goes on an adventure with a Bird he can’t seem to scare away, leaving the safety of his farm in order to find a way to make him scarier.
Favourite part of the show, no spoilers!
I am loving working with Abbey McCaughan and her puppet. I’ve never worked with a puppet before and I am finding that it brings a beautiful sense of play into the rehearsal room which has spilt over into the show.
These are unprecedented times, how does it feel to be a performer in 2022?
I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be performing. However there is very specific fear that comes with pouring your heart and soul into something that could be canceled at any minute due to a lock down. We are filming every full run at the moment and crossing all of our fingers and toes that Corona stays away for fringe so we can show you all what we’ve been working on.
Apart from your show, what other shows would you recommend?
The space we are working at, After Dark Gallery, is one of the most beautiful theatre spaces I have ever seen. I would recommend checking out any show that’s on their, especially “Wheatfield with Crows” which is a piece exploring the life of Vincent van Gogh and his family.
Describe your show in 3 words:
