Review | Laura Money
I am writing this review whilst on the train on my way to see another show because I, like the amazing Cristina Lark am a chronic procrastinatior. Not only is it super fitting to be writing this on my mobile while hurriedly rushing to another appointment but I, like the wonderful Cristina Lark have a secret weapon: I know it will get done. This revelation doesn’t give away the entire show – Caution – Deadline Ahead (a comedy about procrastination) is more than just a humorous Ted Talk. Part sketch comedy, part stand-up – all hilarious, Deadline Ahead will resonate on a level you would never believe.
Lark is absolutely stone-cold hilarious. She is a clever comedian at the top of her game. Beginning with a sketch about having to write a comedy show quickly (it’s meta, just go with it!) and moving on to deliver some major truths regarding procrastination. There is no shame here – Lark doesn’t view it as a problem, merely part of her personality. If the audience are anything to go by – they have the same personality, maybe it’s human nature?
Let’s be clear – procrastination is not about never completing tasks; it’s about putting them off for a while. Lark provides all of the ways and whys of putting off the inevitable. If nods of affirmation were applause, Lark would receive a standing ovation after every statement! I urge you to not put this show on your ‘to do’ list because we all know it will just stay there – get yourself out and see this show. Don’t put it off!
