Elliot Bibby Scottish Magician Presents: McMagic Moments is like going to McDonalds in that it is a convenient way to get a bit of pleasure. This is where there comparison ends – as this light-hearted magician, Elliot Bibby is a far healthier option (unless he gets you to have some whisky!) Bibby truly is a master of creating moments.
Bibby’s show is a mixture of mentalist work, card tricks and illusions that mess with our head! He does not over rely on many smoke and mirror tactics, adding to the impressive feel to the night. So clever is his performance that what can be perceived as an error is just part of an even bigger trick! There is a slight tension with the audience and this is felt throughout the night. It is occasionally eased with witty humour, however his thing is definitely magic. Throughout the night there is a sense of awe that the audience cannot lose. Bibby comes across as an entertainer that can handle a wide variety of audience – with one mentalist act shows how many interesting places he has been to, in this profession.
When you enter the venue and see a Scottish flag at the back of the stage you know his heritage is for real and this is proven when you hear his accent and he asks if you can understand what he is saying. This awareness makes him focus on making sure all understand what he is saying and this is vital in making sure his illusions actually work! Bibby gets a wide range of audience members to assist his performance, including a skeptic in myself! Blown away that everything worked, even Penn and Teller could have trouble figuring some of his stuff out.
