Meet contemporary theatre company Static Drive Co. who are currently presenting their first official production as part of FRINGEWORLD 2018 and the Blue Room Theatre‘s Summer Nights program.
Night Sweats stars Timothy Green as the enigmatic sole voice and aesthetic in a production that will leave you ruminating in laughter and uncertainty. Night Sweats is one of those shows that really grabs you right from the get go. It creeps under the skin and echoes in your brain long after you’ve left the dark shadowy silence of the theatre. It’s one of those tangible yet inexplicable performances that resonates so strongly with you and yet you seem helplessly unable to explain why.
This, for me is the necessary base intrinsic nature of a good show, and Night Sweats definitely has it. This show speaks to you. It whispers in your ear. Frenzied, frantic, not friendly, sweet nothings of the over active imagination are tangled together – woven into this full length spectacle.
Green is absolute perfection personified as he takes the audience and leads them through this lucid demonstration of just what lies between the tenuous cycle of sleep and what roams beneath the surface waiting in this realm of both nightmare and dream.
If it was possible to give this show 6 out of 5 stars I very much would do so! My definite, without a doubt, FRINGEWORLD 2018 favourite by far. Come and be seduced if you dare to endure a sleepless moment with all that comes with insomnia and its Night Sweats.
