A Different Class – Nic Monisse and Grant Mushet is a title that does not explain much except that we have one comedian from a working-class background and the other from a more bourgeoise one. This has no bearing on the show as both comedian’s main aim is to bring the funny – and they do this in spades! These two comics, Grant Muchet and Nic Monisse are rising stars of the Perth stand up scene where they have become friends.
Muchet is a young man from Scotland and he is the first to brace the stage with gusto. A true larger than life character, displaying natural comedy, with quick wit. He first explains the format – himself doing twenty-five minutes and then Monisse doing the same. It is a simple format but sometimes that is the best. Muchet has a muck-a-bout nature displaying wild hair that aptly suits his wild stories. Down to earth in nature, this cheeky Scot comes across as a bloke you’d love to have a beer with. He is more than this as he has the audience in hysterics.
When Muchet finishes his time, he gives a warm welcome to Monisse – automatically breaking the fourth wall by acknowledging that people may see him as a bit of a pretty boy and ironically, he self-depreciates his narcissism. He justifies this by his lack of father validation – emphasising the cliché of living with a conservative father with a doting mother. Monisse puts large amounts of thought into creating well-structured material – which would explain his architecture qualification!
They end together – both thanking the audience in a genuine appreciation of the crowd that creates a feeling that they both would like to party on hard with you. Check A Different Class – Nic Monisse & Grant Mushet out for a night of big laughter.
